From Field to Floor: My Production Role
For Sustain My N.I., I worked as a camera operator on location, filming interviews, b-roll, and cutaways to help visually shape each story. This hands-on role strengthened my confidence behind the camera and taught me how to adapt creatively in fast-paced environments, often working with limited time and changing conditions.

In the studio, I took on the role of floor runner during the live broadcast. I supported the production team by managing timings, relaying cues, and helping to ensure the show ran smoothly from the studio floor, a brilliant insight into the fast-moving world of live television.

Purpose on Air
Sustain My N.I. was a live current affairs programme created by students, designed to spark conversation around sustainability in Northern Ireland. The programme took a fresh, thematic approach to explore what sustainability really means in everyday life — blending journalism with documentary-style storytelling.
Across the show, we covered a wide range of topics including sustainable transport, eco-conscious consumer habits, and creative upcycling — such as giving old furniture a new life. These stories were told through short, visually-led segments filmed on location, with live studio links tying each theme together.

My team focused on sustainable farming and local produce, producing a segment that featured Gilfresh Produce and The Ravine Project — a powerful initiative that links mental health support with agriculture and access to outdoor spaces. Our goal was to highlight not just the environmental impact of farming, but also its potential to support wellbeing and community resilience.
